In Greene County district court Danny Lee Thorn, 30, of Glidden was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- third offense. All but 30 days was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. Thorn was fined $3,125 with a $1,093.75 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). Jared Dean Dennhardt, 27, of Jefferson was sentenced to six months in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- fourth degree, amended from criminal mischief- second degree. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. Dennhardt was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge. Kimberly Ann Nelson, 38, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted burglary, amended from burglary- third degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. She must also pay $1,200 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $321.80 court costs. No adjudication was entered on a charge of unlawful possession of prescription drug. Christopher Michael Andrew, 19, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault- serious. Andrew was placed on informal probation for one year. A judgment was entered for a $315 civil penalty and $100 court costs. A second count of assault- serious was dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)
Jeffrey Paul Olberding, 50, of Scranton was sentenced to one year in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. All but 30 days was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Olberding was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $125 LEI surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. The court found Olberding is unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Robert Oscar Whitenack, 35, of Denison, domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow; Jamie Rae Alvarado, 22, of Grand Junction, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Ashley Ann Jones, 26, of Grand Junction, operating while intoxicated- first offense; and Brianna Taylor Wirtz, 21, of West Des Moines, OWI- first offense. Trial dates were set for Jan. 24 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Melaine Ann Jondal, 40, no hometown given, false reporting of financial transaction fraudulent practice- second degree, unlawful betting more than $500 but less than $1,000; Brett Tyler Adams, 30, of Jefferson, unlawful betting, winning more than $500 but less than $1,000; Richard Lee Norton Jr, 37, of Panora, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; and Alex Cihera Frey, 31, of Madrid, OWI- first offense.
